Recognize that quilt block? Oh yes, that's from Kati, who happens to be in her local modern quilt guild with Amy, who started this awesome new bee.
To be a part of the bee, you must be an active Flickr user with a history of successful swaps as well evidence in your photostream of modern blocks made with modern fabrics. The group will close at 96 members, who will be placed into 16 different small groups or beehives. Each bee participant will be responsible for making 12.5" blocks from their stash for the five other members of their beehive, and in return will receive 5 modern blocks in the colors of their choosing.

It sounds like fun! Except that I'm already part of a birthday block swap this year and I don't want to engage in another.
So not this time. Maybe next time.
Although I'm not sure what qualifies as having a good swap history...what if you've never swapped before?

How do you get into swaps like this if you're a newbie and have never participated in one before? Just wondering. Looks like fun! :)
Lovely block - don't have a Flicker account, have no history of swapping (newbie quilter); how does one ever get to join these things?
I have send a request. I am hoping that they will let me in, I am in two other bees and do quilt alongs but I have not swapped before.

I have the same question as Diane. I have not done any swaps. I have a flickr stream with lots of modern blocks and quilts in modern fabric. This would be my first time. So what do you suggest for us newbies???

As for the newbie bee question, I would suggest joining the 3x6 bee (here: http://www.flickr.com/groups/6x3bee/) on Flickr to build up some swapping history. You can also join the Quilting Bee Blocks (here: http://www.flickr.com/groups/quiltingbeeblocks/))group, which has a thread where you can keep track of new bees starting that may need members.
