If you're interested in why the Google logo has black tape over it today, there is a big virtual strike going on with some of the interwebs' biggest players, like Google, WordPress and Wikipedia. They argue that these bills will restrict how websites operate, and what you can share via social media. Wikipedia, for instance, is offline today, and WordPress is suggesting that bloggers go dark today as well. Here's a list of companies against this new legislation. There are lots of ways this can impact bloggers, which is naturally what concerns me most. If you're interested in reading more, I suggest you start here or here.

A new secret project - I've got some lovely Art Gallery fabrics I'm working with on a new secret project. I wish I could show you more, but I can tell you that these lovelies have a magnificient hand to them - so silky soft!
Birthday gift for my nephew - My nephew turns two in a few weeks, and I'm trying to think up something I can make for him...so far, I'm a bit stumped - and taking suggestions!!!

Adorable pouches, Elizabeth! And your bee blocks are gorgeous. For your nephew, you could look through the Oliver & S Little Things to Sew Book -- my nephew also turns 2 in a few weeks, and I'm planning to make him a draw string bag and fabric balls -- patterns in this book!

I just made my two-year old nephew a toddler backpack from made-by-rae using green echino car fabric. He thinks it's the coolest thing ever, and uses it to carry around his monster trucks.

Love your blocks! For some boy sewing ideas, you might like Made by Rae's and Dana Made It's Celebrate the Boy. They both have a ton of great tutorials on boy things that I have made my son and he loves them. There is a great lego drawstring sack (via Made by Rae), dino tail (via Dana Made It), and monster art bag (via Made by Rae) that my 2 yr old would love! Can't wait to see what you make!

I just made dinosaur tails for all my kids for Christmas - they whip up so easy. I found the tutorial through Sew Mama Sew's lists in November. All my kids, including my two-year-old Henry, love theirs.

How about a Patchwork mat for your nephew's room? Have a look at the "Funky Bath Mat" I made, shown on my Flickr page under "koshka2 photostream". You could use an upholstery or linen fabric for the backing instead of towelling. I am making one for my Granddaughter's room as she will be 2 next month. Happy sewing!

That weathervane block is just so fun! My only suggestion for your nephew is a cute pair of pajamas. But he would probably like something that he can play with instead of clothes. ;)

I've thought about your birthday query for a few days. I was going to suggest something like Colleen did . . . a large, circular play mat with a drawstring. But turn it into a play land, like roads to drive cars on or a dinosaur park. Beautiful work, as always!
I was going to suggest a toy bag, too - maybe one with a vinyl window so you can see in? I can dig up a link if you're interested. Also: I totally agree with Lee. The proposed legislation is not the way to deal with the problem.
