New Year Catch Up and a Fun Giveaway!

Happy New Year! I can't believe we're already a week into 2015. I hope you all had a lovely holiday break with your families over the last few weeks, I truly enjoyed unplugging a bit and spending time with my boys. So much so that I completely neglected to share some fun stuff that's come up as of late!

First up, I'm doing a fun mini quilt pattern series for the fantastic British magazine Love Patchwork & Quilting. Can I just say how wonderful the photography is in this magazine?! Everything is so beautiful! The first issue for the mini series is Issue 16, and it's on sale now even in the US at Barnes & Nobles and Jo-Ann's, and the first mini is the super fun Create mini.

This mini uses half-square triangles to spell out a word ever so near and dear to my heart - create. It's a great little mini to hang up in your sewing room or to gift to a creative friend, and it's super easy to sew up!

Another really fun thing to share is that I've collaborated with the wonderful Patchwork Threads folks to create a shirt inspired by the Lucky Stars Block of the Month Club from 2014 - the Spunky Star shirt! How fun is that?! Well, we're so excited about the shirt's release that Patchwork Threads is giving away a $25 gift certificate to one lucky reader! Simply enter the Rafflecopter giveaway below and I'll announce a winner on Monday, January 12th. Have a wonderful day!

  2. I am really going to try to finish a project before I start a new one. I know that isn't always realistic, as I make a lot of sewn gifts, but I'm going to give it the ol' college try! I am also going to tackle sorting my stash, but that will have to wait until the summertime when I'm not teaching.

  5. Fewer swaps/bees and more selfish sewing! That's my Quilting Resolution. I promise my personal resolutions aren't so self-serving...

    ReplyDelete
  6. My resolution is not to purchase any new fabric and to use my rather extensive stash (unless I need a backing, which I don't always have yardage). My projects resolution is to do more paper piecing. I love it but still am a bit intimidated with it. And secondly, I am hoping to get myself on a more regular schedule of cleaning my sewing machine!

I finished the top years ago but never quilted it because I decided I didn't really like it as a tree skirt. So, I'm finishing it as a table topper instead of cutting an opening into it for a tree skirt. I decided to hand quilt it, since it is a small quilt, and I'm already enjoying the process!

  142. Every January, I inventory my UFOs, stash, and scraps. I push myself to use up, and finish up everything I find. This year is different. I am going to start anything that appeals to me without feeling guilty about not finishing projects.
